Education is free…as long as you can afford it.
Since January 07 I have been taking a postgraduate course in teaching for the over 16 sector. It’s a course I have enjoyed immensely and while I was a little nervous at the thought of going into teaching at the start I have realised that it is something I want to do and continue to improve in.
With the prospect of graduation at the end of this year I have started to look at my continuing professional development in the field, so started to look around for some part time Masters degrees.
I even found the perfect course covering the areas of interest I hold. At first three were two minus to it, firstly it is a course run by Michigan State University which is about 4,000 miles away. No matter the course is also run online and is open to international students who only have to go Stateside for graduation ceremonies.
Then the second minus, the cost. In order to pass with an MA in Education from MSU you need to pass 30 credits. Each module hold 3 credits, you have to sign up for 5 credits at a time and just one credit costs about $590 a time. So in order to pass the 30 credit qualification I would need to find $17.770 in order to pay for it.
So if anyone has the money donations are more than welcome, but if not what about a few ideas to raise the money allowing for the fact that I have to work to pay the bills and for day to day living.
Where can I find those few spare bucks?
